L'\u00e9change thermique se fait par refroidissement par contact \u00e0 travers la plaque de base et une alimentation \u00e9lectrique est n\u00e9cessaire. La lin\u00e9arit\u00e9 n'est pas parfaite (typique +\/-10%) et il est sujet \u00e0 une d\u00e9rive thermique (typ +\/-100KHz\/\u00b0C). Le temps de commutation est de 1\u03bcs minimum. Le contr\u00f4le de l'AM se fait gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un signal analogique 0-5V\/50Ohms. Il s'agit d'une solution peu co\u00fbteuse par rapport aux DDS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le DDS offre une pr\u00e9cision et une stabilit\u00e9 \u00e0 haute fr\u00e9quence et des temps de commutation extr\u00eamement rapides, inf\u00e9rieurs \u00e0 100ns. Ils seront pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9s aux VCO lorsqu'une stabilit\u00e9 et une pr\u00e9cision \u00e9lev\u00e9es sont n\u00e9cessaires. Ils peuvent \u00eatre modul\u00e9s (amplitude) \u00e0 partir d'un signal externe analogique (0-5V\/50Ohms) ou num\u00e9rique (8 bits).
