High Resolution Deflectors

An Acousto-Optic Deflector (AOD) exploits the acousto-optic interaction  to precisely control and steer laser beams at high speed, enabling rapid, non-mechanical beam scanning for Quantum applications, laser processing, biomedical and many others. The change in the beam’s position is done by varying the RF frequency.

The high-resolution deflectors version uses the Shear mode configuration in order to provide large scan angles as well as high resolution. The scan angle is the maximun angle that the diffracted beam can be swept while the resolution is the number of distinct directions which can be addressed by the AOD.

These are available either as 1-axis or 2-axis: the latter being two deflectors assembled orthogonally to beneficiate from a 2D scanning.
